Tho election remits are proclaimed ns Democratic victories! Thu principles and the mensoroa of that once noblo pnrty havo long since been consummated, or booomo obsolete and abandoned, or tlioir consideration and importanoc lost in sterner issues, dogouorato objects, and sectional distraction. Thu old party, sold to "spoils,” and broken by fanaticism, has crumbled into fragments, nnd struggles in Jotachud bands.— Its Administration has been unable, although hav ing litany good and oven high purposes, to achieve naught but a measure whloh has rent the country wiilt the fierouat discord.
