The Engine Maryland, attached to aixteun freight car*, and on her downward trip, stopped at tho station nbove* named for wood and water. Soon after starting again, her boiler exploded, with a terrible crash, killing ioatanily tho engineer and fireman, and no* rioualy acaldmg the breakinnn on the tender. The road in the immediate neighborhood of the acci dent waa to r n up lor acme one hundred yarda, and several cars damaged,—to what extout we have been unable to leurn. Tho locomotivo was thrown forward at least otto hundred loot I rent the point w lmro tho explosion occurred, and landed cross* wise on tho track. It is said to be a complete wreck, though built of tho beat material aud pet- led ly sound bolero tho accidont. It waa manulac* lured by Baldwin, of Philadelphia, and has boon in the service of tho road about four yeara. The chginanian, whoao name was Kelly, waa found lying by tho oido of tho locomotivo ; wlnl* the fireman, Mr. Burns, was blown high in the air* and loll about two hundred yards in advance o llio train. The name ol tho hreakmau, wo learn, is Michaol Shenahun: though* severely injured, hopes are entertained lor his recovery. He was also blown up and lodged on the third freight ear from tho tender. From the most reliable information wo could gather, it would appear tlint this frighltul accident was caused by the carelessness ol tho enginemnn, in allowing the water in tho holler to become ex hausted and then turning in a stream ol cold wa ter upon a highly heated surlaco.
