Gentlemen:—I feel unde? obligations to you for the

Wo have had some cholera hero on tho Mlssissppl

supposed to havo died with the disease. The next
morning I was taken with severe vomiting, accompanied
with coldness of the extremetles. Warm covering and
hot applications failed to restoro warmth. M? wife's
family, who had used tho Pain Killer with sue ess dur
Ing tho cholera season in buffalo in 1811), nd vised me lo
fako it. 1 look two doses at intervals of fifteen minutes;
a fine perspiration ensued, and the next day, barring a
little weakness, I was well, and have been since.
It may have been an attack of Ague, but whether
Ague or Cholera, it answered my purpose.
Since my recovery, I find that several of our citizens
have usod the I’nln Killer as a remedy for Cholera, nnd
pronouneed It good. I thereforo lake pleasure In re
commending it to a still more extended noth o.
Yours, truly, W. M.CROZIER,

This may certify, that I have used Perry Davis’ V#ge-

be a very valuable medicine. I have prescribed it ex
tensively in bowel complaint, (particularly forclilidren,^
and it fa in my opinion, superior to any preparation I
have ever lined lor the relief ol those diseases.
P.S. When given to children, I have always com

RANDALL & MEItCER’S
Uotton-Sec-d Drill.
A LL Planter* havo realized the want of* machine
to drill Cotton Seed with regularity and certainty.
< >ne that would operate equally well on every kind of
land, and at the Mine time be so simple In construction
•nd operation that U eould be used by aegroes without
Ifaulltl) of getting out ol order. A drill which wetAta*
possesses all these qualifies, we now offer to tbe plant
lug community. Alter a thorough trial for the last two
years In different hands on all kinds of land, we would
statosomo oi tho advantages to be derived from their
1st. Tbe saving of seed, which will amount to enough
In planting one hundred acres, to pay for tbe machine.
2nd. The saving ol labor in planting, one bone and
hand only being required to open tho farrow, drop the
seed and cover from seven to nine acres per day.
3rd. The great saving of labor In chopping out, the
seed being deposited In a line one alter another.
4lti. The great saving in subsequent hoe work, owing
lo the fact that any good plow-hand can, lu siding, cov
er all the first crop of grass in the drill, however smell
the cotton may be, without Injuring the aland.
These advantages all farmers will appreciate ;and be
low we give some certificates, from which the public
can learn how these drills are appreciated by gentlemen
of the first standing In our section of the State—all
practical farmers, who have thoroughly tested them,
and are consequently fully competent to decide on their
merits.
CERTIFICATES:
This Is to certify that I planted one hundred and six
ty acres of cotton with Randall and Mercer’a Planters,
and I consider them superior to any thing of the kind 1
have ever seen or tried. The saving of seed alone would
pay for the machines In a season or two, and I think a
hand can do one-third more hoeing than be could In
cotton planted the common way.

sites ere. Randall 4- Mercer—Gentlemen: In reply to
vours of this date, I can any with sstlriacllon, that I
havo used your cotton seed drills on the farm of D. A.
Vnsnn. Esq., with great success. I consider them lo be
j ol great value. They are a saving of about one-third
. of the labor of cultivation, about two lo three bushels
ol seed to the acre In planting, and a great savitur of
t labor In planting, ns they open the farrow, drop and
, cov,! ' - 'h seed with one horse and hand. 1 think them
worth one huhdred dollars a piece lo any planter, that
plants lull crops of cotton. As for myself I would not
plant a crop ofcolton without them for no consideration
In tbe bounds ol reason. Yours, *ery respectfully,

1 have used Randall fc Mercer’s cotton Planter two
seasons, and consider them of great value to the farqw

i tlon, as the cotton fa sowed In so narrow a line that with
i K”°<l plowing there Is but little hoo work needed. There
■ s also a saving of hands and horses In planting, t
should say they were worth one hundred dollars each,
aud recommend every farmer to use them.

Messrs. Run,l,ill 4- Mercer—Gentlemen s In reply to
jours I will only say I have used thrso of your cotton
seed drill*, and consider them of great vnlue, from the
Inc! that iu Ihe use of them 1 saved from two to three
hushels of seed to each acre planted, and at least one-
third of tho labor of cultivation, not requiring one-half
a-* much h«e work as the old way of planting—also, a
considerable raving in Ihe labor of planting. I never
expect to plant cotton without them if 1 can get them

Col. J. II. lYateon—Dx.va *ir : | can recommend
your cotton Planters (drill) iu the highest terms. 1 have
tried them on all my land except now ground, and I
think they will do in tial, they will do lu a raoiiDfain-

I would travel to your shop which is 75 miles, and pay
fifty dollars a piece for them. It saves one-third of the
work; one hand can plant ms much as two,and one hanil
cm chon out three acres while oue can chop out one acre
after a common plow. Yours respecilully,

used Randall fc Mercer's cotton seed drill of your man
ufacture, und am so well pleased with them that I would
recommend all planters who have not tried them, to
give them n fair trial. Where tho drills are used'^ttyere
Is a sroat deal of labor saved in cultivating u crop, ow
ing to Us being so uniform In the drill, the plowing can
be done much butter, and with erealer despatch, con
sequently the hoe work is lighter, as good plowing
supersedes the necessity of s great deal of hard hoe
work. JNO. BARKSDALE.
This Is to certify that I used one of Randall fc 3!or-
cer’s cotton seed drills last year In planting my crop, and
was well pleased. I have used five of them the present
year, planting my entire crop, and am still better pleas
ed. There is a saving or between two snd three bushels
ot seed to the acre In planting, besides one horse and
one hand with these drills doestho w<>rk of three (lands
nnd two horses. Then thcro Is the saving of one third
of (lie hoe work, the cotton bcingin so straight and nar

Many and varied have been the attempts of Intelligent

only partial success. This leaves nothing to be desired
in acoiton drill. It deposits tho seed uniformly nnd con
tinuously in a straight und narrow line&syoti wish, saves

fair trial, 1 planted every other row with the drill, and
the intervening rows I planted ns well as ever cotton
wns planted before your drill come into use. The result
was, that in the r,.w planted with yourdrill I got a moie

sides I realized u great saving in tho labor of working

much pleased with them, having realized great saving of
seed, of labor in plantlug nnd ('hopping out, and the
hands at the first stdiug could go over at least one-third
more In a day, and do better work than In cotlonplant-
ed In tho best way 1 could plant with coulter and block.
I havemo hesitation in giving It as my opinion that in
the uso of your drills there is a saving of one-third of
the labor of cultivating a cotton crop. Col Bond Is
