The ultimatum of the Georgia Demo cracy will never be conceded by any National convention, and much lose by that which ia to aa- eumble at Cincinnati. Oi this, the leaders in this State are well convinced. They have laid down what wili appear to moat Southern men aa un un exceptionable platform, with the view ol binding together and consolidating die iioterngeneous or ganization under whioh they carried the recent election, und for the further purpose of winning over Ireah recruits to their ranks and weakening tho opposition ol tho American parly. Their plailorm ia not wholly tho work ol patri otism ; policy loot its influence ns woll as love of country. Having accomplished thoir purpose—having in duced tho American party ol Georgia to capitulate, to lay down tbeir arms—the loaders will go up to Cincinnati and present thoir ultimatum. One ol two things will be iho result: 1. Tho convention, coinpoacd for tho greator part of Northern delegates, will ho called upon to decide between tho Northern and Southern wings af tho party. If it accepts tho Georgia proposition, tho Northern division will be riven into tactions, and the nominee of the convention detested.— If the proposition be rejected,then the Southern, or at least the Georgia delouatca, will return home and unfurl the bauner of rebellion. Nay more,— they will nominato n sectional candidate and or ganize a sectional party, and thus take tho first step towards breaking up tho Union of these States. If the convention, unwilling to encounter Scyllu on tbo one hand or Cliarybdieon tho other, should neither accept nor reject tho proposition, aa it probably will not, thon the wise mono! tho body will come together and dovise a platform which will mean all things to all men—a dclphic produc tion, full of promise to the North and cncuurage- j mcul to the South. Thia the delegates front Geor* gia will be prevailed upon to uccept as an equiva lent to their ultimatum, and returning home, their work and their patriotism will bo held up to the admiration of the country. If, in tho meantime^ the American party shall have conaentod to await the action of the Cincinnati convention, or shall have commuted itself in any way to its doctaiun> it will find itaell completely circumvented ; for it will then be too late to cull a convention and to bring lorward a candidate. We conclude, then, that il tho convention ac cepts the proposition ol the Democratic party oi Georgiu.u will lead to wide-spread agnation at the North ; (hut if it rejects it, it will call into be ing a sectional party in tho South ; and that if it does neither, it will at least adopt a set of high- sounding hut meaningless resolutions, by which both sections, and especially tho South, will be cheated.
