The beautiful alesmer, St. Johnt, made her ap.

misfortune, in this instance more particularly to
the stockholders, but at tho same time nue would
sup|iose that it had bean an advantage to the

arrived at her wharr, lliu familiar faco of Oaptuin
King was soon nt bar wheel—ho has endeared him

In sinking of the steamers from your place, the
steamer St. Marye must uot he left out j sbe Is a

and well ufl)ce:ed. He who would not enjoy atrip
on either of ihs splendid boats now ruuning be
tween Palntkaaud Savannah, could not enjoy him
self In any place except in the chimney comer of
his grandmother. The traveling public would
find those two boats inferior to none iu tho
southern waters at least, and would, buyulid *

Before closing I must say a word about Franklin
I’iurce, who, by the course of thiugs, has to leave
his (now) high position and go into prlvato life,
where he will soon be forgotten, end never thought
of again, oven hy his owu party, lie has been in no

any great compromise, which will bo read by tho
rising generation to ndrise them that ho was once

A correspondent of the Now York Poet has sent
to that journal a letter, received from whnt he con
