our office bt inging specimens of them
and reporting them in various portions
of the oily, anti while they seem to have
fallen in greater numbers in some lo

seen so far s wo have heard. There
seems to have b’ on more of them in the
vicinity of the City 11*11, in the upper
part of the town ami the river bridge.
Near the bridge the fishermen gathered
them by bucketfuls for bait, The |-ts

against the windows and under the gas
light- in the business part of the city.
Many instances are reported <f gentle
men who enter places of lusitcs* with
the hoppers clinging to their clothing.
The insects are of various sizes, hut
generally about Ihreo inches in length,

white spots. They do not answer tho
description of the plagues of the West,
though they are ceitaiuly not of the
