THE JESUP SENTINEL. OJhce in the •haup Ilmistt, fmntiivj on Cherry .Street, lino door*from Broad St. (■iihllsiwit every.Wrdnrndn}' toy T. I*. LITTLEFIELD. Mr Kditob ’ —For the first time in ray lifo, I am in favor of independent candidnt.g, a whole field lull If we can pet out five or six no od strong can didates wo can carry this district 1- iuo‘t s did f r c invention, while if none tut the regularly nominated ticket runs the vote will be <]tiiie small and ns strong against Convention ns if w had a half n dozen candidates, nnd it full vote of 'be district, and I am afraid some few rn'ght be influenced to vote against convention simply became they do not like the nominees. Now, let me say to all of our friends who who Lave independent aspirations and to tLose who do not .ike the ticket nominated, bring out your candidates, and be sure and bring out a plenty of them but very few people in the dis trict ought to be bound by the action rdf the lute Jrfiup convention. I know an saying this l array m\eclf against a good number of our best citiz ns. But let us look at the proof. We will take Wayne, f r instance two of the lower districts held no primary meetings; the Jcsup district vvu'eh ought to have been represented by 150 voters in the primary meeting had but fifteen pres ent, and 1 doubt very much if the other di'tiicls was any better represent ed than ibis. Why. the sound of (lie voice of the people is not heard in it at all, and if wo can’t get the* people to take some interest in (lie primary meet ings we bad better ab lisli conventions. Let the people bring out their candi dab sin their ow n way, and my word for it, you will have the right men elected. Ido not say or ticket is cot a good one, but 1 du say, w hile it my be as strong, or iho strongest tick et we could make, it will not cairy the entire strength of (lie district, or any thing like it to the po Is. Un i, while many differ with me, and with conven tions in legat'd to c uulidates and n wo aro all Democrats, may we not as breth ren diflor honestly, and in our own way make our own candidates, plenty of them, and you will see the people will rally to the right men and elect them.
