The picnic which was to have
been had on last Saturday was not
as great a success as was predict
d; due to the fact that “Open
View” did not sln-w upas whs ex
pected. The day was planed for
a great success. Refreshments
were on the grounds all day and
arrangements were made for plen
ty of music and a ba i 1 game was
to have been had between the Sa
tilltt Creek team and “Opeu View”
teams.
The day was passed off very
pleasant by alt present. “Opm

Satilla any more. If vou cannot
pay your “hires! pitcher” his five
dollars t' w pitching for v«u wh*n
you want to play Satill i, brine
him right along and Satilla w’ill
pay him for you, or if you di n’t
wish for Satilla to pay him for
you, try to rai* the money mtime
to to give them a game in 1908.
There is one thing that we all
seem negligent in, more or less,
and that is the care of oar usefull
friends, ihe birds, If we would
ouly consider their worth to us as
insect destroyers, I hardly see
how we could be so careless about
their welfare. Take the birds
which we have, and you will find
that- about ninety persent of ttem
rarelv if ev r do any damage to
ns, while on the ntli-r hand you
will find that they are of inesti
mable worthy to ns as insect de
stroyers besides giving ns
swe^t songs, and some of them
their fle-di to eat. And now if
this be the case Tan we n«>t afford
to spend a little of our time look
ing after their interests? Let ns
all join in and try to increas
number by building houses for
those that wil 1 r ii-e around the
dwe!ling and barn, and prnbet
those that are wild by posting
land and thus freeing them tr irn
the “bird slaughterer” who c me
from the city and c * res nothing
for the harmless beauties. Let
us spare no paines in takingevery
advantage the law gives ns in
having those brought to trial
slaughter «.ur turds against
wishes.
