RIVER HAS REACHED HEIGHT OF FRESHET. Rise jn Twenty-four Hours Ending Ttys Morning Was But Half a Foot. JANUARY 26, 1906. The river has probably taken the "back trail,” and unless general rains now set In and continue for several days, there Is every reason to believe that the water will steadily subside. The daily report on the stage of the river shows that during the twenty- four hours ending this morning the rise was but n half foot. This makes the height of the water 17% feet, or 2% feet below what is conceived to be the danger point. So slight a,rise dur ing a 24-hour period 11 considered proof that the height of the freshet has been reached. In the present case no damage has been done. ' The Indications today are cartalnly favorable to continued rain. Should there be general heavy precipitation throughout the upper and middle sec tions of the state, there Is no telling what might happen In the way of freshets, with all streams in their present condition. Local Weather Observations. The following observations for the past twenty-four hours have beon taken at the IT. S.
