MIDDLE GEORGIA FARMERS TURN TO SPECULATION Borne of Them Sell Their Farms to Speculate In Futuree. Barnesville, Ga„ Feb. 5,—A number oI farmers ol this section have been dealing In cotton futures pietty’ heav ily recently. They have either sold their spots or borrowed money at the banks on It, and have taken the pro ceeds In futures. In some Instances farmers have been known to sell out their farms or implements and move to town so that they cuuld deni in fu tures more readily. Some have already lost what they had saved, and will now have to go back to tlu, farm and start over again. Others have made enough to want more, and are still holding on. Somo of the players on tin. market go awny to neighboring cities occasionally, es pecially when the y are losing, to change their luck. They usually hold on, however, until they are cleaned out entirely. The tendency in this direc tion seems to be growing among the farmers. Brinson & Co., Wood and Coal, Phone 367. Prompt service. Antlquo silver ohes nru always handsome—that Is to say, those an tique in design, even if not so In point of duration and fact. .The best de signs alone enn survive the pnssago of time, and so a reproduction of an antique that Is still In existence must naturally bo a thing of quite excep tional beauty and artlBtlc merit. The curved outlines of the Louis Quinze and Seize period, with pseudo- classical designs upon their surfaces, are now beautifully reproduced. Tiny buttons of the same material as the larger ones, and either exactly re peating tile design, or at lonst very similar In outline and Idea, are com bined with the large ones. Enamel constructs many of tho most handsome batons, for In tills shades of color are to he obtained to harmonize with any mnterlal. Somo of the'buttons Ihnt have green or deep red or purple tints In the onamel are surrounded by silver rims; and, con versely, one seos hnndsome buttons where a design In enamel surrounds the silver "centre. A wreath of roBes In nntural pink for the blossoms, and green leave, all round a silver filigree centre, was a. very handsome button, of which four were Bet on the folded satin belt of a heliotrope chiffon velours gown. Tiny miniatures form another fashionable and effective button. There are seen also gold, silver and steel settings to amethyst, topaz or coraal centres. Combined in some specimens with good effect are two or three metals, such as gold, platinum and cut steel. Some of the gold (or gold-cased) but tons are welcome In their very sim plicity, for they are quite plain, though redeemed from commonplace by some point In the shape: Some In a dia mond shape, both large and small, the varying Blzes set In different situa tions, of plain bright gold, made a very satisfactory finish on n black mousse line velours princess gown. In Btrong contrast were the more showy button ornaments of another frock built in the very same material; these were heart-shaped, the outline made In nn Interlacing Boroll of gold and platinum, and the centre a pierced, open Watteau design in gold of Cupid, bow and arrow ip hand, sur rounded by tiny doveB with diamond sparks for eyes. A little more and there would be complete landscape ef fects, quite rivaling the millinery In which the mother of Louis XVI In dulged. ■\r The Eye and Its Care. Consult us only.
