The tope on the closing was barely steady, with prices at a de cline of from 3 to 4 points from yes- tordny. Sales of 10,000 boles at n decline of 8 points were rccorcjed. The course of the locnl market throughout today’s session has been about ns uninteresting an affair as can welt be imagined. Outside orders of consequence were few and far be tween and the continued absence of the public from speculative pursuits Is ono of the primary causes of the narrowness oC fluctuations. News of any consequence was conspicuous by Us absence and holped along the lackadaisical condition In evidence. Whatever the drollne has been and to what further oxtent it may con tinue, spot holders have departed but little from their original Intentions. Hero and there on the decline weak ness has been displayed, but every such liquidation lias left the Balance on so much surer footing.
