Atlanta, Ga., keb. 12.—Willie on her way home Saturday night about 10 o’clock, Miss Wlllia Crockett, of 137 West Hunter street, an operator at the exchange ot the Southern Bell Telephone Co., was held up and robbed by a tall mulatto, man, who snatched her purso and ran away when the young womnn screamed. Miss Crockett had reached the cor ner of West Hunter and Mangum streets, and while lit a shaded place was approached by the negro. The highwayman, with no word of warn ing, grabbed the young woman’s purse. She was so frightened that she screamed for help, and this scared tho negro, who vanished-down the street. The police woro notified of the oc currence by the young woman's father, E. Y. Crockett, who said the purse contained about $2. MURDER TRIAL WILL ATTRACT ATTENTION. Gaffney, S. C., Feb. 12. — George Hasty, of this city, who fatally shot Milan Bennett and George Abbott Da vison, of the “Nothing But Money” theatrical company, here December 15, 1905, will he tried on the charge of murder February 26. AN OLD ATLANTA FIRM IS IN TROUBLE. Elliott, of Savannah, Ga., has been appointed a major and assistant judge- ndvocate-general on the general staff. He was formerly a major In the First Infantry, National Guard of Georgia, and one of the best known military officers of the state. He will succeed W. Ga., Feb. 12.—With liabili ties approximating {63,000 and assets thought to be not more than $40,000, the firm of Charles S. Klngsberry & Co., clothiers and furnishers, of De catur street, was forced into bank ruptcy late Saturday evening. Col. B. F. Abbott, general counsel for the Atlanta National Bank, was appointed receiver by Judge Newman. The petition In bankruptcy was filed by Attorneys Mayson and Hill, coun sel representing two local creditors and one In New York. Neither Mr. Klngsbery nor his partner, H. F. McConnell, would dis cuss the company’s affairs. Mr. Kings- ducted by T. S. Sease, state attorney for this circuit, who will he assisted. It Is understood, by special counsel employed by the Actors’ Association of New York, which has taken the matter up. Several witnesses of the tragedy, members of the theatrical company, will appear pn the stand for the state. The trial will be followed with the! greatest Interest, and private homes have offered hospitality to the members’ of the company who will at tend the trial. FIFTY-EIGHT MEN KILLED AND WOUNDED Serious Fight Between the Turks and Servians—Turks Made Attack and Lost Most Heavily. Belgrade, Servia, Feb. 12.—A serious fight has occurred in old Servia be tween Turkish troops and two Ser vian bands near the village of Niku- jan. The Turks, who were the attack ers, lost forty men killed and wounded. The Servians lost eighteen. CARD OF THANKS.
