Just.,27 miles from the classic city of Athens, Ga., Is located the thriv ing little town of Maxey’s the reBlden’ce of Mr. Robert Ward, who has lust been released from the most perilous predicament, the particulars of which he has consented to give to the public. He writes tas follows: Maxey’s Oglethorpe Co., Ga., July 1. For 12 or 14 years 1 have been a great sufferer with a terrible form of Blood Poison (Syphilis), which ran Into the secondary, and finally It was pronounced a ter'lary form. My head, face and shoulders became almost a solid mass of corruption, and finally the disease commenced eating .way my skull bones. I became so horribly repulsive that for three years t absolutely refused to let people see me. I used large quantities of the most noted blood -emedleR. and applied to nearly all physicians near me," Dttt my condition continued tot grow worse, and all said 1 must surely die. My bones became the seat of excruciating aches and pains; my nights sere passed in misery; I was reduced In flesh and strength; my kid neys were terribly deranged, and life became a burden to me. I chanced to see an advertisement of B. B. B., and sent $1 to W. C. Birchmore & Co., merchants of otir place, and they procured one bottle for me. It was used with decided benefit. 1 continued Its use and when eight or ten bottles had been used was pronounced sound and well. Hundreds of scars can now be seen on me, looking like a man who had been burned and then restored. My case Is well known (|n this coun ty, and for the benefit of others who may be similarly affected. I think It my duty to give facts to' the public, snd to extend my heartfelt thanks for so valuable a remedy. I have been well over 12 months, and no re turn of the disease has occurred. ROBERT WARD. Maxey’s Ga., July) 1. We, the undersigned, know Mr. Robt. Ward, and take pleasure In'stat ing that the facts as above stated by y him are true, and that his was one of the worst cases of Blood Poison wo ever knew in our county, and that hs has been cured by the use of B. MILNER, Mtorney-at-Law, VENTULETT BUILDING. ^Sloan’s /iniment Prica 25f50f&*L00 Special to The Herald. Atlanta, Ga„ Peb. 12.—President M. L. Johnson, of the Georgia division, Southern Cotton Association, has an nounced his finance committee and district organizers for 1906, and has called a meeting.of the committee and the organizers to he held in his office, No. 919 Empire building, Atlanta, on Wednesday next, February 14, at which time many important matters relating to the work of the division for the ensuing year will be discussed and acted on. The finance committee is composed of one member from each congres sional district, and it is, in effect, an executive committee as well as a com mittee on finance, for it has practical direction of the most important affairs of the state division. The matter of raising funds for. the prosecution of the work of the division is in charge of this committee. It also fixes the salaries of the various officials and employes of the association and at the coming meeting will outline the work to be done throughout the state by thh district organizers, and also fix the compensation that will be paid them. It is for this reason that it is impor tant that the district organizers meet in Atlanta on Wednesday with the finance committee. • President Johnson has named the following as his finance committee for 1906 under resolution of the state con vention passed January 3': First congressional district, J. R. Miller, Swainsboro; second district, I. A. Bush, Camilla; third district, p. G. Hughes, Jr., Danville; fourth district, W. A. Brannon, Newnan; fifth district, W. L. Peel, Atlanta; sixth district, J. T. Williams, Haddock; seventh dis trict, J. H. Reynolds, Rome; eighth district, Paul Atkinson, Madison; ninth district, T. A. Pate, Thomson; eleventh district, J. M. Finn, Dublin. Work for the Organizers. The district organizers were also named, one from each congressional district, under a resolution passed by the state convention on January 3. The duties of these organizers will be to visit each of the counties in their respective congressional districts and make every effort toward building up and strengthening the local organiza tions of the Southern Cotton Associa tion. They will seek to secure new members and also funds for carrying on the important work of the state division. Georgia is looked to for greater things in 1906 than she ac complished in 1905, and much of what is to be done will depend upon the thoroughness with which the district organizers do their work. Following are the* district organizers appointed by President Johnson to look after the worlu in their respective congressional districts:- First congressional district, C. D. Adams, Sylvania; second district, W. R. Green, Fort Gaines; third district, J. J. Easterlin, Montezuma; fourth district, W. S. Copeland, * Newnan; fifth district, L. L. Mlddlebrooks, Cov ington; sixth district, S. H. Mays, Jackson; seventh district, J. Lindsay Johnson, Rome; eighth district, Claude Tuck, Athens; ninth district, M. D. Ir- win, Winder; tenth district, J. W. Whitly, Gibson; eleventh district, Mel vin Tanner, Douglas. The district organizers will be ex pected to urge with all their power the principles for which the association Is now fighting, including the holding of spot cotton for 15 cents, and most im portant of all, the reduction of the acreage for 1906. MUCH MONEY LOST By Albanians In the Recent Slump In the Price of Cotton. It is an old and undoubtedly true saying that the news of one’s win nings goes abroad over the land, but the news of one’s losses is never widely circulated. While very little has been said about the recent big slump in the price of cotton to the Albany speculators, it is safe to say that they have been hit pretty heavily. If the market had risen three or four cents you would have heard on every street corner of this man who pulled down a thousand, and that man who cleaned up five hundred, and the other man who touched the Wall street gang to the tune of fifteen hundred. But when the trend of the market is towards- the other end and prices aro slipping down with surprising and distressing rapidity, one nover hears that Mr. So-and-So lost a thousand and Mr. What’s-liis-nnme lost five hundred. About all one can hear is a statement from ono of tlio wise ones about like this: "Weil, thoy have been kinder hitting the boys hard for the last few days.” It is difficult, to com pute just what that remark means in dollars and cents. Reports from Columbus place the amount of the losses by speculators there during the recent slump at $100,000, and Americus also reports heavy losses. There has been a good deal of money lost by Albany specula tors, too, but it is difficult to estimate what the amount has been. It was probably not half as large as the amount lost at Columbus, but it must have been a right neat sum. Phil Harris, Leading Opthalmic Optician. Consult us for defective eye sight.
