Cables were more or less favorable, one source ex pressing the lack of faith In present prices. New York news was of a better na ture, the opinion being prevalent that higher prices would ensue as during the morning a buying power develop ed, generally attributed to Wall Street Interests nnd Liverpool support. Lo-> cally, prices were a little off on the opening, but the undertone during the day. was very steady and a decided disinclination to sell was doubtless due to the hotter situation existing In spots. Tdduy, however, there Is but little to chronicle in this department, as choice lots seem to have been picked up the last day or so, leaving factors' tables bare of high-class grades. New York reported the gradual ac cumulation there of large lines by a source unknown as yet, but supposed ly for some syndicate with Steel con nections. Special to The Herald, Atlanta, Ga„ Feb. 16.—J. H. Arnold, a young white man, a traveling preach er who recently held a religious meet ing In Marietta, was, arraigned in po lice court yesterday on a charge of filling and loitering, preferred by Pro bation Officer Gloer. After hearing the evidence the recorder gave the preach er some advice and dismissed the case. The arrest grew out of an investi gation by Gloer Into the pathetic con dition of Miss Godfrey, a young Ala bama woman who was recently tried In police court on a charge of begging on the streets, and who has been as sisting In Arnold’s meetings. It was stated that'the young woman had been sent out Vy Arnold to beg money to aid In paying for a gospel tent. Gloer said the young woman is ill, has not liad the attention of a physician, and has been told by Arnold that she do.es not need a doctor. Recorder Broyles advised Arnold to sell his tent and turn some of the money over to Miss Godfrey, that she might have necessary medical aid. NOTICE TO PUBLIC.
