In An Idle Vein. Hogg d Drug Co. ar Phone 75. Now that the hen! of sling and slug cattle for Albany next season has been corralled, and is now peacefully grazing in the green pastures of quiet ude and restfulness, waiting to be led to victory or the slaughter pen. the question right aptly and timely arises, what will be their sobriquet? The team just f simply has got to be christened properly, or it’s all off. Mr. Hoodoo begins to work from the jump, watches carefully for every opening. |and it wouldn’t do to get a name that [would attract him. Much skill and tact, therefore, must be exercised in the selection of a {cognomen. The Herald will give a ; few suggestions to those who wish to ; enter the contest for naming the dub, Thomas is the manager. Albany the town, and "The Artesian City" is the sobriquet. What names suggest them- .selves on the mention of Thomas? "The Thomas Cats,** of course, would fill the bill. If no objections are teams play tamely as their sweet hearts might desire. "The Raw-sons'* would be a compli ment to Albany’s popular mayor, or Llppitt’s Biffits" or "Brown’s Crowns" would be appropriate. “The Maneat- ers’’ would be a terrifying name, as would also "The Monsters.” For a meaningless name, such as many teams have. "The Hunkydories” or "The Dinkydories" might be used. Don’t say there is nothing in a name, but get busy, write Mr. Thomas your suggestion, and if he accepts it. you will be repaid for your trouble. The manager says that on a certain day this summer, one that will be long remembered, just as the sun is sinking beneath the’horizon, a great crowd, composed of men. women and children, wild-eyed and happy, will witness the planting of a pole, symbol izing victory, and the person who names the victors will have something to be proud of.
