Boston, Feb. 17.—The annual report of tho trustees of the Mnckay com panies was Issued yesterday and states nrat the companies own a part of or all of the capital stock of seventy-four prosperous cable, telephone and tele graph compnnies In the United States and Canada, the Commercial Cable and Postelegraph systems. Tho report further states that the Maclcay com panies are among the largest stock holders In the Amerlcnn Telephone and Telegraph Co., known as the Bell Telephone Co., and that during the past year they have acquired control of the Amerlcnn Telegraph Company, which for twenty years has owned and operated a telegraph system In Minne sota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois. "-The report shows that the Mnckay companies have no debts and that there aro $46,045,000 preferred shares and $41,180,400 common shares. Atlanta, Ga„ Feb. tfl.—When a ne gro woman at 28 Capitol avenue went Into the basement of the house yester day and began to clear away some rub- bush, she waB horrified to find a hu man skull. Believing she had unearth ed evidence of a ghastly tragedy, the w.omnn fled screaming from the scene. The police station was notified and an officer went to the place. All he could find was a skull. There Is no evidence to prove that a murder had been com mitted, nnd just how the skull came to be In the basement Is not known.
