Election to Be Held March 28— Rule*
and Regulations as Prescribed by
County Democratic Executive Com
mittee.
Albany, Ga., February 6, 1906.
In compliance with action ot the
Democratic Executive Committee ot
Dougherty County at a meeting held
on Saturday, February 3, at which nil
members of the committee were pres
ent, a white Democratic primary elec
tion is hereby ordered to be held at
the Court House In Albany and at the
precinct at Pretoria on Thursday,
March 22, 1906, tor the nomination ot
county officers, viz: Sheriff; Clerk of
the Superior Court, Tax Collector, Tax
Receiver, Treasurer, Coroner, and Sur
veyor.
For the information of voters and
in justice to all parties concerned, It is
deemed proper to here state that a
question has arisen nB to whether the
office of Clerk of the Superior Court
will continue to carry with it the of
fice of Treasurer, or whether the of
fices of Clerk and Treasurer will con
tinue in consolidation In this county-
said question having arisen out of a
decision of the Supreme Court in an
analogous case in Cobb county. The
Democratic Executive Committee has
not presumed to pass upon this ques
tion of law, but, being advised that one
or more candidates will run for the
office of Treasurer and have the ques
tion as to whether the offices of Clerk
and Treasurer shall still be consoli
dated, or separated, decided In the
courts, the' committee has provided
for the nomination of a candidate for
Treasurer In the primary so as to leave
no excuse for any man to run In the
general election without having first
submitted his candidacy to the white
Democratic voters of the county.
This primary shall be held under
the general state law governing pri
mary elections.
The chairman of the executive com
mittee will appoint the managers and
clerks for said primary, and the fol
lowing rules and regulations | will be
enforced: j
Each candidate will be required to
liny to the chairman of the executive
committee not later than the noon of
March 20 the sum of 85 for'the ex
pense of the election, Including tickets.
The committee will have' tickets,
printed with the names of all candi
dates printed thereon, and voters will
erase all names except those tor whom
they desire to vote, and only those
not erased will bu counted.
