Nobody seems to be “dead against,
the market," but the general public
Is Indifferent, which accounts for the
absence of buying orders.
NEW YORK COTTON LETTER,
ompany
(By TV ire to Clark & Co.)
New York, Feb. 21.—For some rea
son the much-heralded underwriting
syndicate for 500,000 bales of cotton at
15 cents has lost confidence in Itself
and appears to be gelling the few
thousand bales It bought, expecting
the public would be driven by Its
strange theories of economics. The
selling, however, Is met by good buy
ing and it Is of little consequence'as
to the operations of speculative trad
ers. The main factors of the market
are the continuance of the spinning
demand and the cessation of selling at
Texas points.
The movement promises to continue
liberal for some weeks yet, but the
decrease (at Interior counties and un
counted towns are likely to be Impor
tant, by March 16. It looks as though
■we should have further liquidation of
March contracts, which will have a
tendency to cause market depression,
but this Is but a temporary condition
and rather helps the sales to spin
ners.
C; D. FREEMAN & CO,
Where will prices soar to If May
should be a wet month? ,
The market offers exceptional op
portunity for BcalpeiB. •
Port receipts were 25,000 against
19,000 last year.

The people wfiom Harvey Jordan

other piece of folly.
There is no sign of a bull leader
coming into the game.

Afraid of Strong Medicines.
Many people suffer for years from
rheumatic pains, and prefer to do so
rather than take the strong medicines
usually given for rheumatism, not
knowing that quick relief from pain
may be had simply by applying Cham,
