AT SHREVEPORT.
Mob Wants to Lynch Negro Who Mur.
dered Miss Lear.
New Orleans, Feb. 23. — Governor
Blanchard announced today that he
would go to Shreveport tonight to as
sist In allaying the excitement there
over the murder of Miss Lear and the
trial of the negro Coleman tomorrow
for the crime.
The situation at Shreveport Is quiet
today, but intense excitement pre
vails. The governor believes that he
has an ample military force to prevent
lynching. i
