It muy often be safer to suppresa
the truth that is “strange!' than, no
tion" than to tell it.
Politics can become so stagnant us
to putrlfy, but there appears to be no
danger of this In Georgia this year.
No, Pauline, denr, John Barleycorn
can't vote In the white Democratic
primary for Dougherty county ffmcors,
Philadelphia Is reforming 1 sure
enough. Twenty-nine or thirty women
were elected school directors .In that
city on Tuesflny.
The Thonutsvllle Tlmes-Enterprlse
says: "The concern that pleases Us
stockholders Is the one that makes a
noise like n dividend.”
$
Miss Alice Roosevelt has been mar
ried and Jbhnnn Hoch l^ns been
hanged, but (lie ease of Lawyer Pat
rick Is still a spare-tiller in the dally
newspapers.
Sister Myrlck, of the esteemed
Amerious Tlmes-Recorder, is evident
ly going to flglu Congressman Lewis
for her fellow-townsman, Candidate
Wheatley.
Johann Hoch never lost hope, nod
up to the very time of his execution
j Insisted that he was entitled to longer
respite. But Johann has gong to a
. court where there are no delays.
The number nnd the variety of
,v gubernatorial candidates in Georgia
tills year constitute n positive contra-
diction of the charge that the state Is
r dominated by any ring, faction or po
litical boss.
GROSVENOR.
General Charles H- - Grosvenor, a
representative of an Ohio district in.
Congress for nearly a quarter of a
century, has received the cruel blow
which sooner or' later falls upon all
persistent politicians of the office-
holding variety. Re has been defeat,
ed for the Republican nomination in
his district, and the defeat was so de.
elded as to be crushing. .
Somehow, we can’t feel sorry, for
Grosvenor. Fact Is, we arc- more In
clined to be In sympathy with those
who are rejoiolng over his defeat j
Grosvenor is a “stand-patter;" steam
ship subsldlst, and gotten Republican
of the South-hating variety. He hai
also been a sort of Presidential biogra
pher, some of his literary productions
of this character having been sold for
as much as f 1;000, according- to report,
to persona who are likely to be profit
ed by subsidies.
Grosvenor is a spoils politician of
the Ohio variety and a steady shouter
for the old flag and an appropriation,
and about the only Commendable act
of his since he has been la Congress
that we can now recall Is that he sup
ported the bill to reduce duties on
Philippine products.
A BUDDING GENIU8.
The 16-year-old school boy at New
port whose crude home-made appara
tus has Interfered with the operation
of the powerful equipment of the naval
wifeless station at that point Is a bud
ding genius who may yet develop Into
the Edison or Tokla of the coming
generation.
The apparatus of the 16-yeur-oId
genius wds constructed of such ma
terials as wire nails, discarded auto
mobile springs, commoa coppor wire
colls wound around an old wooden
cylinder, white pine beards, and a
shattered Incandescent lamp, which
lie uses' ns a receiver. The poles
which hold the nntennno nre raised
from the roof of the house, and con
nection with the ground Is made
through the water pipes. Sevon dry-
cell batteries furnish the electrical
onorgy.
The crudeness arid offlelency of the
apparatus have attracted the uttontloa
or tho officers In charge of the gov-
ernmont station, und they lmvo made
a dotnllcd report of the facts to the
bureau of naval equipment.
This Newport hoy muy yot-mnkb tho
world sit up and tnko notice. The
germ or Inventiveness dwells In his
brain, and It Is not likely that small
obstacles will ever discourage him.

Do You Use
Bread?
The Nashville American thus scores
some of our prominent Georgia news
paper men: ‘if Georgia newspaper
men were to stick to their newspapers
ami curb their political ambitions,
Georgia would not be surfeited with
a lot of newspaper specials telling of
their differences. Hoke Smith and
Clark Howell are calling each other
names In their squabble over the gov
ernorship, and John Temple Graves
and Editor Daniel are vehemently
throwing mud at each other, to the
disgust of theif friends and to the an
noyance of newspaper renders. «It Is
rue Hoke Smith Is not now a news
paper man. but he seems to have a
newspaper hold somewhere. The pliVce
for tho newspuper man Is the sanctum
or counting room. There is an 4 abun
dance of other fellows to,scramble for
the offices,”
The other day Congressman Slier-,
ley. of Louisville, Ky., was talking to
the House about canteens at army
posts nnd at the home of the old sol
diers. "Unfortunately,” he said, "the
statements once made by a senator
A supply of good bread is a certificate of health and a

Our Breads
Do not “just happen” to be good—not an accident, but
the flour and shortening and yeast we use and the baker, too,
are all the best and highest grade money can get, and it is
this reason that our breads are always a success.
Just get one dollars worth of tickets and have the bread
wagon call for your convenience.
