Spot sales today were' 12,000 baleB, while those of the previous day were ralBed to 20,000 bnles. ( . The unfavorable reports of weather conditions throughout the belt Induced some fresht buying, which caused fu tures to rule strong and steady at good advance during the session. Ex- porters, were generally considered to bo good buyers, also, and the mar ket’s tone showed considerable im- piovement over yesterday. Wo are inclined to the belief that the visible supply statement will be of a distinctly bullish temperament as receipts for the week ending today at interior towns have shown a marked decrease from the previous one and the foreign movement has also exhib ited a similar trend, especially Bom bay, where the falling off has been some (35,000 bales. Momentary causes must always ex ert their proportionate Influence on markets that show unmistakable signs of nervousnV-ss, but the situation such as It is at present Should not ue view ed with any apprehension, for under lying all surface disturbances lies the greatest of all.factors, namely the per sistent and eager demand for spot cot ton. It is hardly possible that futures cau show any marked decrease in vaiups as long as this demand contlh- for Daily Herald by Clark & Co, Readers %' Somebody seems to want the real stuff. Price Issued his ginning report, showing amount ginned to February 26. These figures of 10,355,000 show only,84,000 bales ginned In the last twenty-five days. It Is now believed the government's ginning figures up to March 16 will show below 10,400,000. Nothing very bearish about this,. Liverpool’s disposition to buy every thing offered is malting many friends for the market. Frank Hay'ne wan a heavy buyer' of May" "at the market." Bremen cabled: “The continent must have a lot of American cotton before it can get any out of the new crop.” , I, The movemen t dwindle. Is beginning !to. Norden's estimate of 10- per cent. Increased acreage Is a little previous. It Is said “the old-time New Or leans bulls" wero lining up at the feed box waiting eagerly for sellers of July. The new crop will have to culti vate Itself if it is to reach 12,600,000, and with present trade conditions thlB amount will be needed to keep the spindles of the world revolving. Harvle Jordan Issued a ginning re port, which he says Is complete from every gin in the belt. He makes the amount ginned to February 25, 10,350,- 000. If‘It were not for the heavy selling by McFadden*- we would see higher prices. Generkl impression Is that Price is taking the bull side.—C. D. Freeman.
