In speaking of the politi cal situation In his home territory, he said yesterday: “ ‘Dougherty can be counted in the Howell column and indications are that Lee county will go the same way. “ Recently I got a friend to make a poll of Washington street, in Albany, finding that a big majority was for Howell. 1 took the names of the Hoke Smith men and went to (ach of them personally and asked them how they stood, knowing already they were for Mr. Smith. In this way I soon had a poll which read something like this: Hoke Smith 20, everybody else 0. “ ‘Well, this caused some little amusement in the county. It served to illustrate how many of the; polls are taken which claim everything for' Mr. Smith.’ ” The best safeguard against head, ache, constipation and liver t-oubles Is DeWitt’s Little Early RiseriS Keep a vial of these famous little pills in the house and take a dose at bedtime wh°n you feel that the stomach and bowels need cleansing.
