Special to The Herald. , Atlanta, Gn., March 7.—A Joint meet ing of the Senate and House commit tees on penitentiary matters of the Georgia General Assembly was held yesterday at the Kimball House. The members met for the purpose of organ ising subcommittees to visit the va rious convict camps In the state, after which reprots to the legislature will be prepared, signed, and presented when the General Assembly convenes this summer. < Owing to the absence of some mem bers. all the sub-committees were not appointed at the initial meeting. Some of the sub-committees left this morn ing for their work of investigation. Senator F. B. Sirmans is chairman of the Senate committee, and John Hold er, of Jackson, Is chairman of the House committee. The Senate committee Is composed of Senators Sirmans, Steed, Furr, Also- brook, Fortner, Ware, McAllister, Graybtll, Rose, Parker, Peyton, Phil lips, Lumsden, Wilcox, Hamby, King, Hogan, Blalock (35th), Westbrook and Odum.
