NELSON, Defendant's Atty. 2tam-2m Will Be a Candidate for Councilman at Next City Election-Mayor Pro Tern Harwell, Too. Special 4o The Herald. Atlanta, Ga., March 12.—An inter esting piece of political newB which has just come to the surface is to the effect that at the next city election— which takes place in the fall—Mayor Woodward and Mayor pro tem. Har well will he candidate! for council. The mayor’s term In office will expire this year; so will that of the mayor pro tem. Mr. Harwell is an alderman and represents the First Ward. He will be in the race to represent that ward as a councilman, commencing all over again, as' it were, his political career, it is a well-known fact that Mr. Harwell has his eyes on the may or’s office. It was thought that he would be a candidate this year for that position, but he has declared, official ly, that he will not run—this year, at least Mr. Woodward has been a part and parcel of the city government so long that the city hall would seem lonesome wijhout him in it as some sort of official. He has been council man, then alderman, then mayor, theD alderman, then mayor, again council, man, until it has become to be a gen erally accepted idea that he must be taken into consideration every time there is a city election. indigestion is much of a habit. To my mind, the best I ever heard in this connection was the verdict brought In by a coroner’s' jury ifi Michigan, who were called upon to pass upon the case of the sudden death of a merchant in Lansing. “The finding was ns follows; ‘We, the jury, find from the physician’s statement that the deceased came to his death from heart failure, superin duced by business failure, which was caused by speculation failure, which was the result of failure to see far enough ahead,' ’’—Harper’s Weekly. Take for example, The Heralds’ fire, the fire the other day on South street, and the Ragan fire. Fact is, the unseemly hour 1b what made the fires so de structive. Had they been in the day time, the alarms would have gone In sooner, and the damage would have been considerably less. As it was, the fires were discovered late, and then the telephones had to be depended on to send in the alarms. At the last fire, for instance, some negroeB had to run about three blocks, wake up a man in bis house, wait for him to dress and open his door, and then had to telephone, before the department could be notified of the fire. The fire had about completed its work when the firemen reached the scene. All of this, of course, argues in favor of the c-s’.abiishment of a fire alarm system in Albany. The system would be good for ut least thirty years. The saving in the damage by fires and in the in surance rateB would pay for the sys tem tea timeB over in that length of time." if you are troubled with Piles and can’t find a cure, try Witch Hazel Salve, but he sure you get that made by E.
