Tremendous Rainfall at Atlanta, New- nan, Birmingham and Other Points. 4 High Water Warnings. Atlanta, Ga., March 19.—The rainfall in the past eighteen hours, ending at 9 o'clock this morning, reported by the .local weather sta tion, was 3.18 inches. Four and quarter inches is reported from Bir mingham, Ala., four inches at Newnan, Ga., and 3.83 inches at the Oakdale observation station on the Chattahoochee river. Warnings have been sent to all points down the Chattahoochee river of rapidly rising water. It/is feared that much damage will be done. The weather is growing rapidly colder. The storm appears to have been general all over tlie South. NQ WOMEN KILLED IN MOUNT DAJO FIGHT The Undertakers’ Association Branded as a Trust of the Worst Order. fleVa CHICAGO, March 19.—The Chicago FedeVation of Labor bas\ de clared war on the Undertakers’ Association, branding It as a “trust of' the worst -order.” A resolution was adoptecf declaring • that no union man should, purchase a non-union casket or asslst^n paying for the same: thnt nonunion man shall be a pallbearer at a fhneral where a nop-unlon casket Is used. Birmingham, Ala., March 19.—A special from Jackson, Miss.,, says that railroad traffic has been, paralyzed for the last eighteen, hours by heavy rains. Many trains are five to ten hours late, and others have been annulled. All railroad lines to New Orleans seem to be blocked, and there is no certainty that trains will get through. Five inches of rain has fallen In the last twenty-four hours at Jackson. HEAVY SNOWFALL IN THE OHIO VALLEY. DAYTON, Ohio, March 19.—Eight inches of snow has fallen here since midnight, and traffic of all kinds is demoralized. A drizzling rain followed the snow, and fears are entertained of a disastrous flood. There has been an unprecedented snowfall at Columbus, six inches falling in four hourB to 8 o’clock. Reports from all parts of the Ohio valley say that the snowfall Is unusually heavy. Shiv ers, a former resident of Albany. Mr. Shivers passed away last night after a long illness. His health failed soon, after he left Albany, and he sought relief in vain in sanitariums and other places. The news of his death was n,ot unexpected, but occa sioned much friends here.
