On account of the rush of business and a crippled wire service It will be Impossible to secure any letters from New Orleans and New York today. The final report of the census de partment on ginning for this season was the sensation of the day. The total of 10,700,000 Is appalling when we think of the "wise people” who said the crop was not above 10,250,000. Todays' report settles for all time the size of the crop, and when allowances are made for the “errors” sent in by glnners, we may safely count on a minimum commercial crop of 11,000,- 000 bales, which will be adequate for all purposes. The result of the report, will be a rush to sell by holders who are weary of paying interest, insur ance and storage. Unless some dis aster happens to the new- crop, prices must Inevitably Beek a lower level, Wo believe the market is a sale at all stages. CLARK & CO. All hall the Paris hat! For all hats are Paris hats when the millinery season opens. And why r.otV Though the most bewitching creations one sees In the up-to-date shop may have been made right there, the Inspiration which gave It birth came from Paris. Therefore, the Paris hat , ■ Albany millinery opening are fa mous. v And among the most interesting on record are those which have occurred today. The whole of feminine Albany has been out to study the new styles In headgear and go Into ecBtacles over the beauties they unfold to the enrap tured beholder. There/is no place un der the sun where one hears as many delighted feminine “Ohs!" “Ahs!” and adjectives in the superlative degree as In the Jam which always develops at a millinery opening. " . And the superlatives have been worked overtime today At Hofmayer, Jones & Co.'b the at tendance, In spite of unpleasant, condi tions out of doors, has been larger, perhaps, than ever before In the long history of this popular house. The opening has been In charge of Miss Edwards, the head milliner, ably as sisted by Mrs. Hunter, Miss Mrocz- kowskl and Miss Gobert. A great many beautiful hats have been shown, and no matter from what standpoint considered, the opening must be pro nounced an unqualified success. Todays’ Is Rosenberg Brothers’ sec ond opening, they having added mil linery to their other lines only last year. But this is an Instance where the trite rule that experience is neces sary to success seems to be Bet at naught, for the Rosenberg opening to day leaves absolutely nothing to be de sired. The hats are beautiful, and have called forth many compliments. In charge are Miss Amelia Frederick and Miss Hymen. The ready-to-wear departments have come in for their s flare of attention and only favorabel comments on what Is shown are heard, A SHEAR YOU CANTEQUAL COTTON PICKINGS.
