But now the agony Is over. The three blocks from Broad street northward on Washington are paved, and Albany knows a whole lot about paving that she didn’t know before, dhe paid a price for the knowledge, hut It will copie la handy with a value all Its own In the future when similar undertakings are on foot. One of the important matters in con nection with every assembly of the Georgia Chautauqua relates to the dec oration of the Auditorium. Every year a competent committee It appointed by the Chautauqua management to look after the decorations, and the atten tion thus bestowed is responsible for greatly improving the appearance of the Interior of the building. This year the matter has been placed In the hands of a competent commit tee, President A. W. Muse having ap pointed a committee of three, com posed of Miss Annie Hobbs, Mrs. J. P. Gill and Mr. Frank Smith. This com mittee will have entire charge of the decorations. Albany can, not take care of new comers until she provides houses for them to sleep In. People want to come, and will even make reasonable sacrifices to that end, but they can not be expected to camp la the streets or vacant lots Just for the sake 'of be ing called Albanians. There are scores of families anxious to move to Albany from other places, but there houses have been built during the last few years, and many more are being and will be built, but there are no Indi cations that the supply will keep pace with the demand.
