Liverpool came about as due. Fu
tures were 1 to 2 higher, while sales
were 8,000 at unchanged quotations.
Manchester brokers cabled that
Erglista spinners were willing to pay
very fancy prices for desirable grades
delivered in October and November.”
We opened 1 to 2 better on a mar
ket that was called “quiet and steady.”
Mr. Price Issued his usual circular,
the gist of which ,was that he was
bullish on cotton for the next twelve
monthB.
PrlceB' position Is supported by the
spot situation, which is about the
strongest support he could have.
After all, the real excitement may
come in the July option, hut woula be
continued to October. In the event
of any trouble with the new crop, Oc
tober would soon advance 2 cents per
pound.

Weld & Co. say: "We do not see
how any decline of importance can
come on the new crop until the trade
feels confident of a crop of 13,000,000.”
CLARK & CO.’S COTTON LETTER.
The course of values today has sim
ply been a repetition of those preced
ing It for the past ten days. Liver
pool continues In the same old way to
buy cotton and convert It profitably,
while the American option markets
vary 6 to 10 points per day, first up
and-then down. The market offerB lit
tle that is new. Mr. Price got out his
dally circular, stating that he was, a
hull on cotton fbr the next twelve
months, that we would go Into tho
next crop with no visible and practi
cally no Invisible supply, and that he
saw no possible chance for any per
manent break until the trade was ab
solutely assured of a new crop above
12,600,000 hales. This assurance, if it
ever comes, which Is extremely doubt
ful, can not come before next Decem
ber. In the meantime, buyers of
spots are ever on the alert for all
grades, but high grades preferred.
The apathetic condition of the market
Is the usual calm which follows the
storm as Inevitably as night the day,
and only half support Is needed to
cause a great advance. The weather
on tho growing crop will be a most
Important factor for traders to watch.
Woj continue to advise purchases of
the now crop conditions around pres
ent prices. On these options chances
for loss nre reduced to the minimum,
while chances for great profit are very
bright. CLARK & CO.
