Black and Blue Serges are always in good taste, and our stock in this line leaves nothing to be desired by those partial to these old favorites. The trousers fit snugly around the waist, are full at point of hips and taper gently downward. The effect of the whole suit is faultless. The prices for a Kirschbaum suit are: $9.98, $11.48, $12.48, $12.98 and on up to $20.00. We will save you money on any suit you buy from us. LESSON OF A LITTLE ADVERTISEMENT. announcement: SPEED OF INSECTS, There is nothing that would add more to the comfort and appearance of your front porch than one of the lovely A Common Houoo Fly Travel, a Mile In Thirty-tlirec Second.. It is the popular belief that the flight of the birds is much swifter thou that of the Insects, but a number of natural ists who have been making a study of the matter think that such is not the case. A common house fly, for example, is not very rapid In its flight, but its wings make 800 beats a second and send it through the air twenty-five feet, under ordinary Circumstances, id that space of time. When the insect is alarmed, however, it has been found that it can Increase its rate of speed by over 100 feet per second. If it could continue such rapid flight for a mile in a straight line, it would cover that dis tance in exactly thirty-three seconds.' It is not an uncommon thing when traveling by rnil in the summer time to see a bee of wasp keeping up with the train and trying to get In at one of the windows. A swallow is considered one of the swiftest of flying birds, and it wn3 formerly thought that no insect could escapo it. A naturalist, however, told of an ex citing chnse he saw between n swallow and a dragon fly, which is among the swiftest of insects. The Insect flew ! with Incredible speed and wheeled and dodged with such ease that the swal low, despite Its utmost efforts, com pletely failed to overtake It. An Impossibility. OPENS IN THE WELCH BUILDIN<? JUNE 4,1906. It was a little adverUsement in The Herald.. It said, "Pottage for Rent," etc. The papers fyere on the street about 4 o’clock. At five minutes after 4 the cottage had been rented,. At intervals of a few minutes during the afternoon and evening. there were some dozenB of applications of parties who had seen or heard of the advertisement, but were too late. The owner of the cottage asked that the advertisement be not inserted again, but as the result of a misunder standing it appeared a second time in The Herald. Then the advertiser called up the office ovef the ’phone, and said: "Please take that advertisement out of The Herald. Persons answering it are about to drive me distracted. The cottage was rented long ago, and I could have secured tenants for some dozens of others. Don’t print that ad vertisement again, whatever you do.” f^ll of which proves— Three things: That Albany needs more houses of the class built to rent. That those who have the means and have the interest of Albany at heart should build such houses.
