Tifton, Ga., April G.—The tax trou
bles of Worth county ure by no moans
over. Last week the Supremo Court
handed down a decision In the Injunc
tion case carried up from the Albany
circuit to restrain the tax collector
from collecting that portion of the
levy of 1906 made for court house
purposes and the levy was declared Il
legal and the county commissioners
instructed to collect the balance of the.
$16 court house levy of 1904, part of
which had been held up in deference
to the general dissatisfaction growing
out of the heavy tax.
Under this decision the county com
missioners of Worth are taking steps
to proceed with the collection of the
balance of the back taxes for 1904, but
It is probable they will meet with seri
ous obstacles.
Since the levy of 1904 part of Worth
county has been cut off Into the new
counties of Tift and Turner, and the
citizens of this territory do not think
it Is right or legal that they should be
compelled to pay the old tax for a
building that Is now worthless to
them.
A meeting of parties Interested was
held at Sylvester recently and It was
decided to test the legality of the col
lection in the courts. Judge J. H. Hall,
of Bibb, was retained, and It Is under
stood an Injunction Will be asked for
restraining the tax collector from col
lecting the balance of the 1904 levy.
The dissatisfaction In Worth county
began with the amount expended on a
court house and Jail when the county
site was moved to Sylvester, and the
litigation slnde has followed on the
refusal of the taxpayers at the polls
to authorize a bond Issue.
Given Up to Die.
B. Speigel, 1204 N. Virginia St., Ev
ansville, Ind., writes: "For over five
years I was troubled With kidney and
bladder affections which caused me
much pain and worry. I lost flesh and
was all run down, and a year ago had
to abandon work entirely. I had three
of the best physicians, who did me no
good, and I was practically given up
to die. Foley's Kidney Cure was rec
ommended and the first bottle gave
me great relief, and after taking the
second bottle I was entirely cured."
