CARLISTS IN SPAIN
ARE AGAIN ACTIVE.
Those Opposed to King Alfonso’s Mar
rying an English Woman Join the
Carlists.
The Way.
London, April 19.—Information has
been received in London from a re
liable source to the effect tlial the
Carlists are very active in Spain just
now, mid. that their attitude Is more
menacing than It has been for many
years past. The coming royal mar
riage Is viewed with extreme disfavor
by many sections or I lie Spanish na
tion, who have never forgiven England
for the part she played in the Spanish-
Ameriean war, and the late Lord Salis
bury’s offensive reference to a “decay
ing nation."
Many of those who are strongest in
their objection to King Alfonso marry
ing an English princess are said to be
throwing themselves Into the Carlist
cause, and a deep-seated movement Is
believed to he on foot throughout
Spain to undermine the present dy
nasty, and to strike another blow for
Don Carlos and his family.
