A Metropolitan Millinery Department
We’ve added considerably to our Millinery Department this year—both to the size of the stock and
to the working force. Still we are barely able to keep up with the orders which have poured in in a
perfect stream ever since the opening. The cleverness which our milliners have shown in adapting the
charming creations of the master designers of Paris’and New York to the taste of the ladies of South
Georgia is largely responsibleifor the increased popularity of our Millinery.

SUBSCRIPTIONS TO DATE AMOUNT TO
$559.75—THE LIST STILL OPEN.
$559.75.
This Is the amount which Albany and her citizens have contributed
to the San Francisco relief fund.
The Herald announced Saturday afternoon that It would receive and
forward subscriptions to the relief of the San Francisco sufferers. But
bofore The Herald was circulated upon the streets, Mayor Rawson had
taken the matter In hand and had appointed committees to canvass
the city and solicit subscriptions to a fund to be sent to the stricken city
by the Pacific.
Messrs. S. B. Brown and A. W. Muse. Messrs. J. S. Davis and J. B.
Gilbert, Messrs. C. W. Rawson and J. P. Munnerlyn, Messrs. J. T. Hes
ter and L. B. Welch were the committees that made the canvass of the
city, each committee of two taking an allotted section of the business
district of the city.
With characteristic generosity, the good people of Albany contrib
uted to the relief of their suffering brothers—brothers far away, but not
so far that their distress failed to appeal to the sympathies and open the
pursestrings of the rich and the Poor, the high and the low of Albany.
All contributed of their means for this worthy cause, and the sum of
>559.75.will go nt once to the devastated metropolis of California, where
300,000 people are homeless. /
It Is not likely that all who wish to contribute to this fund have
been seen or have responded to the call in The Herald. Other subscrip
tions will probably come in. and The Herald will gladly receive such
dentitions and will see that they are turned Into the proper hands.
Below Is given a list of the con trlbutions which have been made
to the San Francisco relief fund:
