The first ball game of the season took place yesterday afternoon at the ball park, where the Valdosta "Va grants” took from the Albanians the first of a series of three preliminary practice games, the score being 5 to 4. (This was the first game to he played by any of the teams that compose the Georgia State League, and it was watched with intense interest by the fans all over the circuit. The Albany fans were out in force, several hun dred having gathered to see the open ing performance of. the men whom they expect to cheer to victory in the. race for the pennant, which wilt open on May 3rd. The first interesting feature of the game yesterday was the appearance of the players in their new unlfqrms. The Albany Club has dark blue suits and blue caps, with the seams piped with a narrow .braid of red. “Albany’’ 1 appears in red letters across‘the shirts and the stockings are of Ted.
