Before long In the shady corners of piazzas and beneath convenient trees the ham. mock shall reign Bupreme. All Borts and conditions of hammocks shall be hung, from the home-made affair of barrel staves to the high-priced webbed article from the, stores. It Is getting time for the young men who have nothing to do except the very arduous work of looking hand some to grab a pipe, almost as large as the youth himself, and lounge full length, swaying gently with the breeze. And the fair Bex, too, display an aptitude, partly native, partly ac quired, for hammocking cthat even in Its normal stages is little short of wonderful. In this case a book Is substituted for the pipe. The book Is unread, however. The fair one con tents herself with watching folks pass, occasionally sighing, occasionally gig gling, and constantly displaying—un intentionally, of course — a shapely ankle, drop-stitched ericaBed.
