THE ALBANY DAILY HERALD, MONDAY, APRIL 30, 1906. ED. R. a CLAYTON JONES. Attorneys-at-Law And Real Estate. Phons 408. MR. HALLAM GIVEN UMBRELLA, Every woman knows that a polished table collects so much dust in a day that she can write her name on it The same thing happens to a Pretty Incident Occurred at the Audi- torlum Saturday Evening. A very pretty Incident at the audi torium Saturday evening was the pre sentation to Musical Director Alfred Hallam of a beautiful silver-mounted silk umbrella, a remembrance from the chorus of the Eighteenth assem bly. The presentation was made In a graceful speech by Mr. Jos. S. Davis, superintendent of Instruction. Mr. Hallam was In the audience, but went to the platform In response to Mr. Da vis's request. Mr. Davis gave expression to the appreciation of the members of the chorus for the splendid, work which Mr. Hallam rendered In behalf of the assembly. It Is well known that Mr. Hallam proved an exceedingly popular director, and the high character of the services ho rendered was proved by the class of music heard daily during assembly week. The umbrella was a testimonial of the deep appreciation of the members of the chorus., Mr. Hallam responded In a short Bpeech In which he expressed not only his sincere appreciation of the remem brance, but his gratitude for the many courtesies extended to him and Mrs. Hallam during their stay in Albany. He hoped, he declared, to repeat the visit many times In the future—a hope, It Is needless to add, which Is shared by all Georgia Chautauquans. —sufficient reason for buying Uneeda Biscuit the only soda cracker.
