A scrub organization, composed of
boys, went to Leesburg today to meet
the Leesburg team this afternoon. In
view of the fact that the Albany club
proper has been losing a few games, It
Is to be hoped that this team will re
deem the fair name of Albany. There
was no salary limit proposed when
this organization was perfected, and
the team has been gotten together re
gardless of expense. They confidently
expect to walk away with Leesburg,
and those who know the youths who
compose the team expect It, too.
Wlghtman and Crews will be the bat
tery for Albany. Some of the team
are still In short pants, but their abil
ity Is unquestioned.

NEW YORK COTTON LETTER.
(By Wire to Clark & Co.l
New York, May 8, 1906.
One hesitates to analyze a situation
colored by the presumption of an In
terest which offends the intelligence
It was a year ago is to assert what
the growing crop is as unpromising, as
it was a year ago Is to assert that
every Intelligent man knows to be
false. What is to be gained by such
distortion of facts no one can deter
mine, for the truth Is well known and
will dominate the situation. It Is ap
parent that some of the people who
prefer to believe In higher prices Im
mediately are taking advantage to
market their cotton as opportunity of
fers.
In. the final analysis no qne, however
wide their source of information or
clever their reasoning, can at a mo
ment settle any substantial promise
for market operations. A premature
conclusion Is more than likely to re
sult In the losses, surely In loss of
opportunities. Yours truly,
C. D. FREEMAN.
NEW ORLEANS COTTON LETTER.
By wire to Chirk A Co.
New Orleans, La., May 8, 1906.
There was no new developments
abroad to cause mord than a passing
interest in the market. On the close
optionB were lower by 1 to 2 points
than the Anal figures yesterday, while
the only feature, If feature It can be
called, was sales of spots amounting
to 10,000 bales at unchanged quota
tions.
The relative weakness of the May
position Is doubtless due more to the
fear thai purchasers of contracts
would find themselves with undesira
ble cotton on their hands, than to any
lack of confidence on the part of those
firmly committed to the bull side. On
the other hand the comparative activ
ity of the fall months and their stead
iness today plainly shows the Influ
ence of the weather. But apart from-
these two facts, there is but little left
to chronicle, the spat situation and
the condition of the weather together
bearing the brunt of the argument.
Moreover It Is very likely that but
little change from the present disin
terestedness will occur pending the
first of the acreage report in June, ex
cepting, of course, the presence of
manipulation, or the reawakening of
the dormant speculative public.
Yours very truly,
GIBERT & CLAY.

Again the English market held Its
own. Spots were unchanged, while
futures were 1 to 2 better.
European news was all of the most
bullish character. No one seemed to
care for the short side of the winter
positions.
We opened unchanged with no pres
sure to sell.
Reward.
I will give 826 for the arrest and re
