THE ALBANY DAILY HERALD, FRIDAY, MAY 18, 1906.
TAT HOME.
THERE ARE ALL SORTS OF TIMES, BUT NO.
TIME LIKE THE PRESENT.
THERE ARE ALL SORTS OF REFRIGERA
TORS, BUT NO REFRIGERATOR LIKE
The “North Star.”
MORAL: Own a “North Star” or none, and
OWN IT NOW!
A. volume might be written about the “Whys”
and “Wherefores” of NORTH STAR superiority.
To sum it up in a single sentence, the fact is this:
NORTH STARS combine all the advantages, all
the triumphs, all the conveniences of the best that has
been discovered in the field of refrigerator invention
and exploration, and have none of the faults found in
so many of their rivals.
We show every interior finish — glass, opaline,
enamel, tile, and, zinc.
We show a variety of sizes and designs, suited
to the various needs of different customers.
We guarantee every refrigerator to be the best
in construction and finish.
As for the purchaser, he takes no risk whatever.
He gets nothing but satisfaction. ,

to dry out after plenty of rain.

There would be no protests from any
quarter if a rain of a few hours dura

Broad street is going to be about
the prettiest thoroughfare in this part
of the country after the sidewalks are
paved.
The first cotton bloom is yet to be
reported. But it’s really not so very
long until it will be, only a matter of
a few weeks.
The crops are all in fine condition,
according to reports brought in by
farmers from all portions of the sec
tion hereabout.
“Put the dope to me,”—a very fre
quent cry to the soda fountain man
now. O, yes! Albany consumes the
coca-cola, all right.

Do You Use Paint?
You can see all the bare arms that
you want to, thanks to the flimsy
sleeves the fair sex uses. Nominally
shut up, but It’s like a prohibition

The Albany hall team will return
Saturday night from Waycross, and on
Monday will play the first of three
games with the aggregation from that
place. ,
Most of the world does and most of the
world uses

It may be that there will be some
more paving done in the business sec
tion of the city this year, but it is not!
a settled matter jtef. f Broad street wilj
be next in order for paving honors.

The county jail is being filled up
with vagrants at. present, which is
gratifying. Not the fact that it is
filled up, but that things are being
made hot for the idlers. The vagrant
law is a very important factor in the
labor problem of the South, and if it
were not enforced the condition of af
faire in both country and town would
be changed for the worse. If the ne
gro stays in Albany he’s got to work.;
And she, too, for most of the prison- 1
ers at the jail now that are being held
for vagrancy are women.

Farmers report strenuous days
the country at present. Labor Is some
what scarce, and to make matters
worse, negroes are constantly break
ing their contracts.. But they will pull
through somehow, and in the fall the
fruits of their labor will be all the
more to be enjoyed, simply because
they were harder to obtain.
