P. B. Iiofmayer have purchased the interest
of. Mr. R. L. Jones in the wholesale department,
and, in turn, have sold their interests in the retail and

rate, and distinct in ownership and management, each
being wholly independent of and having no connec

Albany’s advantageous geographical location and
unsurpassed railroad and freight facilities make it an
ideal jobbing and distributing point. This was real
ise suit of a * zed ky Hofmayer, Jones & Co. when

ders Of this business were sanguine, but even they did
not anticipate the wonderful growth ot the wholesale
business, which has forced the necessity ol making it
an independent enterprise, .demanding the lull and
careful attention of a large and competent force.
Although, from the beginning, the sales have been
most gratifying, they have been more than doubled lor
the first, few. months of this year', showing conclusively
that 'the merchants of this section, fully Develop
appreciate the advantages we offer. It .. , *
was no longer’possible to conduct the Onnampere
business as a department of another business and have
it measure up, in point of efficiency and service, to our
. notions of what such a business, with all its manifold
advantages; should be. So, we have made it “a thing
of itself,” in order that it may reach its full develop
ment unhampered, and that, through our undivided
diligence, we may give to' the merchants of this sec
tion the best possible service.
So much for what has been; now for the future.
