Silver and Cut Glass for
June Weddings
Of course, there’ll be June
weddings—there always are.
And, of course, there’ll be
presents to buy for the pretty
June brides.
It is especially opportune,
therefore, for us to call at
tention here to the fact that
throughout the elegant H., J.
•& .Co. stock of fine Sterling
■ Silver and rich Cut Glass, the
Dissolution Sale prices pre
vail.
The extremely reasonable
E rices at which H., J. & Co.
ave always sold these goods
have been liberally reduced
for this big sale. The conse
quence is that these stocks
offer values which can not
,be equalled in the state.
Better Supply Your Wants During This Sale and Be
Glad of It, Than to Be Sorry You Didn 9 t
One thing the buying public is unanimous on; and that is that the Dissolution Sale of the great
H., J. & Co. 1906 Spring and Summer stock combines more quality of goods and liberality of reductions
than any sale ever conducted in South Georgia. This, of course, means bigger values — values that
appeal, not only through their low price, but also through their high quality.
Albany has been in existence about 70 years. This is the first sale in the city’s history in which
such reductions have been marked on so magnificent a stock in its entirety. Probably another 70 years
will roll around before history will repeat itself. Indeed, it is the chance of a life time.
It is difficult to select from the multitudinous number of matchless values a few examples for enu
meration which can give any satisfactory idea of what this sale can save you. There’s only one way
for you to get the most out of this big saving opportunity. Come to the store. Study carefully the
values offered, and buy what is best suited to your needs and your purse. We want to help you .do
this, and we hope you will accept this as an earnest invitation to carry out this suggestion.

HARRIS PLUMBING CO.
The many friends of Mr. J, McC.
Hill, who has been foreman of en
gines for the Central of Georgia Rail
way Co. at Albany for the last three
years, will be greatly plpased to learn
of his well-merited promotion, which
he has Just received. He has been
appointed general foreman of the large
shops of the Central’s system In At
lanta, being given entire charge of the
road's mechanical department at that
point. Tills Is one of the most re
sponsible positions on the Central of
Georgia Railway Company's system,
as tho Atlanta shops are the second
largest on the system, being equipped
to take care of heavy repairs of equip
ment, to bo used In and out of Atlanta
by the Central of Georgia Railway
Company’s system and the Atlanta *
West Point system.
While It Is with regret that Mr. Hill
and his family leave Albany, he Is
hopeful of .returning at some future
date—a hope which Albanians genet
ally share.
Mr. Hill’s family will go to Colum
bus to visit relatives for a few weeks
before taking up their residence in
Atlanta. Mr. Hill assumes charge in
Atlanta on Monday, June 4.
Mr. W. E. Charlton, at present in
'charge of the work at Cedartown, is
to be transferred to Albany. Mr.
Charlton is among the older employes
of tho Central, and is a popular man.
He has expressed himself as being
very much pleased at the prospect of
making Albany Ills home.
v These changes are significant in the
work which the Central Is doing at
Albany. The road Is adding forty men
to the number already at work on
the extensive Improvements here, and
expects to complete the round house
and shop buildings within a few weeks,
The coal chute is nearly finished and
within four weeks it Is expected that
2,500 tons of coal will be ready for
use on this chute.
The rapidly Increasing business at
Albany makes it necessary that not
only the work under construction be
quickly completed, but that everything
possible be done In order to avoid the
necessity of even greater extensions
than those already authorized.
GATHERING WAS
MOST ENJOYABLE.
Albany Methodists Spent Pleasant
Evening at Their Church.
Nothing more enjoyable has ever
occurred in Albany than the reception
at the Methodist church last night, at
which the members of the church and
congregation met and mingled for the
space of several hours. It was an oct
caslon of fraternal handshaking and
/delightful social intercourse—one of
those occasions worth more than can
be estimated to any church.
Delightful refreshments were served
during the evening. The occasion will
be long remembered, and long exert
an influence in the minds and hearts
of those who were present.

The Albany Elks and their guests,
including nearly a hundred ladies, who
went to Philema yesterday to enjoy
one of the most delightful Georgia bar
becues ever pulled off in this part of
the country, were the guests of the
management of the Albany & Northern
railway. When the Elks opened nego
tiations for a special rate to and from
Philema, they were met with the un
expected announcement that no charge
would be made for the service, and not
one cent were they allowed to pay.
The act was characteristic of the man
agement of the A. & N., which, while
one of the most aggressive and pro
gressive Independent roads in the*;
state, is at the same time one of the
most public spirited and generous.;
The Elks of Albany now take their
