NINETY-FIVE IN THE SHADE But Studying Thermometers Only Makes It a Whole Lot Hotter. Yes, it’s hot. You are right about it—absolutely and emphatically correct. If you will sally forth and read a half dozen thermometers in the imme diate vicinity of the spot where you happen at this moment to be perspir ing the sultry moments away, you will find that the temperature has suddenly jumped up something like ten degrees. For It is' a fact too well known for argument that the nian who studies the thermometer is the hottest man in the community. As.long as we do not know with certainty how hot it is, we may beguile ourselves into the belief that it is a great deal cooler;’‘than is actually the case; but the moment we begin studying thermometers, it's “all off,” so far as keeping comfortable is concerned. The thermometer in the shade this afternoon registered 95 degrees at 2:30 o’clock. That is doing pretty well, and it Is safe to say that there will be very little warmer weather during the sum mer, and comparatively little as warm. file Miracle. * Woodland—What is the difference be tween a Wonder and a miracle?
