NEW ORLEANS COTTON LETTER. By wlro to’Clark * Oo. New Orleans, June 8. The closing ot the Liverpool market In observation ot the Whitsuntide holt days which extend over tomorrow as well, has Imparted even further quiet ness and lack ot Interest In the day’s session of the cls-Atlantlc rings. The quiet underlying.strength of the July option continues to be the sustaining Influence of the market and has cre ated a decidedly more favorable opin ion In favor of enhanced values. Cov ering of the short Interest In this month’s has been fairly general and at the same time the October position found ready support from local trad ers, but the market still stands In need of a broader stroke of outside specu lation. The Influence of the weather seems for the moment to be lost In the more engrossing Interest of the outcome of July. All reports from the belt con tinue, in the main, favorable, but the unequal distribution of moisture in parts of Texas is beginning to he sore ly felt and lias been the cause of some expressed nervousness on the part of the trade. Spot business In our mar- kot Is necessarily restricted by the small supplies which exclusive of the amount on shipboard and the very low grades llnters, etc., amounts to barely 30,000 bales. The visible supply statement today will In all probability show but small mill takings owing to the several days' cessation of business abroad and the unwillingness of spinners to buy large, ly as exhibited In the small dally vol- ! lime of business done this week with such frequent Interruptions in the trade. Yours truly, , GIBERT & CLAY. COTTON PICKINGS. Furnished for Daily Herald Readers by Clark & Co. British Bulls and Bears are observ ing Whitsuntide holidays, and the for eign market will be closed today and tomorrow. The sun continues to shine and the plant continues to flourish. The nights are sweaty and close, thus enabling us to see the plant grow by day and hear her grow by night. In Texas the boys are betting the Lone Star State will make 4,000,000 bales. * The weather has caused Theodore to seek shelter. How foolish the South would be to follow this man who seeks to cause an artificial ad vance for the sole purpose ot creating a good selling'basis. New York and New Orleans opened steady at unchanged prices, with little or no business from the outside pub lic. icrs to me a race. , , ■ The crowd who tabulated the acre age figures are evidently the same who made a crop guess of 10,160,000 last December. 1,200,000 bales. They are too low by The movement of the new crop Is only 70 days off. Harvle Jordan says he would not be surprised to see October sell at 9c. The crop has passed safely through the most critical stage. If Texas makes 4,000,000 and Geor gia 2,000,00b, It Is very easy to figure where 7,000,000 more Is to come from. When this market does begin to break It will develop a false bottom. Blooms are plentiful in Southwest Georgia, and yet some people argue the crop is late. The official reports of fertilizer sales show 30 per cent, more sold than in 1904, when the crop was 14,000,000. W. R. Ward, of Dyersburg, Tenn., writes: “This Is to certify that I have used Orlno Laxative Fruit Syrup for chronic constipation, and it has prov en, without a doubt, to be a thorough, practical remedy for this trouble, and It is with pleasure I offer my con scientious reference."
