It filters the poison-loaded bile out of the blood and discharges part of it from the'body. When the liver fails to do this work, then the bile passes through into the general, circulation and, begins its poisonous work. Eventually it settles and fastens itself at some point, which location may be far away from the liver; yet it is stagnation or congestion of the liver which is the immediate cause of the whole trouble. The only way to help a disordered liver is to treat it as the human filter. Laxo invigorates and stimulates this most im portant organ. Stewart was In wonderful shape yesterday, allowing only four blngles. Down they went In a sad 3hut*out.. Eleven strike-outs were also his, and not a pass. The score Is not a sur prise then. McCormack is out now for a good while, his finger getting split again. He has gone to his home in Savannah. A new catcher is en route from St. Louis, two new inflelders, an outfielder and a pitcher are now being secured. The men put up a rather nice game. At times the ball was positively snap py; but It was simply a case of Stew* jU\t.. Posey was *a trifle wild, and they found him for several. Nine games at home after today. Enthusiasm was there and to spare last night. Only' one more to lose before we grab a fresh hold. They said that “Kid" Nunley was playing ball, and now It’s confirmed. Boyd, the only utility man on the team, has been in lately to the limit. Poole bears an uncharmed life. He gets hit more than any player in ‘the league. “So glad tb meet you"—this from the Cordele team to the Climbers when introductions were in order. It was the first shut-out for the team. Valdosta is the oply team now that has not been kalsomined.- Valdosta is astonishing everyone, now. They aspire to the pennant in. a hurry, in spite of the Waycross lead. “Reddy” Cranston is rapidly earn ing the dislike of every manager in the league, and also every umpire. An adverse decision sets him on fire. This is the third successive series gone. Will Cordele, too, make it .three straight? The Vagrants gave us enough of,that. Foster and Hessler have had quite a quarrel. How sad! And up till now there has been such friendly feeling among the Fishermen! This is the longest lane that the Al bany team has traveled in a long time. They go like sheep to the slaughter, and the butchers are without hearts, utterly. DeCosta—our DeCosta, is playing the initial sack for Amerlcus. They j ; are well pleased with his work., over there. He is undoubtedly ( a good play- Last night at 9 o’clock an enthusias tic mass meeting was held in the city hall relative to securing the Albany franchise from President J. W. Thom as. As regards results the meeting was a complete success. After a dis cussion of the present situation the following facts‘were brought out: Brunswick had offered $400 for the franchise, Mr. Thomas was in the hole to the amount of $350, he was obliged to go to Montreal, and consequently couldn’tf well keep the ownership, and he offered to sell it to an Albany stock company for $325, free from all |in- cumbrances and past debts, that is, those up until tomorrow night. Mr. Morris Wesloslcy called the meeting to order and it was decided to form a company of’l'00 shares, $5 a share, the amount of shares to be in creased at the instance, of the execu tive committee if necessary. In the crowd ninety-four shares were sub scribed and the rest will be made up at once. The officers elected were as follows: President—Morris Weslosky. Secretary—J. S. Billingslea. Treasurer—F. H. Bates. The executive committee, in whose hands the managership of the team is vested, the manager to be chosen by them, are Messrs. Charles Marks, Milton Bacon and J. W. Walters. Herbert Cawthon, who managed Al bany’s winning ball 1 team last year, has already been engaged to manage the reorganized league team. He ar rives this afternoon. He is experi enced and competent both as* a man ager and ball player, and is exceed ingly popular. He will be placed in charge with instructions to “run the team so as to make it play winning ball." Messrs. Morris Weslosky, Clayton Jones, J. W. Walters, Jr., and Charles Marks were appointed a committee to canvass subscriptions for the company. The men behind the movement are strictly business men and are deter mined that success shall attend their efforts. It was a case of Albany los ing the franchise or not, and when the issue came it was met squarely. The prospects now are that things will he put on a winning basis immediately. Local management was all there was to the matter when success was con sidered, and it is gratifying indeed that something has been done. The matter was not taken up as a business, venture—those who entered into it are expecting to hardly come out even—but a desire to furnish Al bany with baseball for the summer was alone the animating motive. and if he could leave out the dissi pation he would be a successful one. NO LIMITATIONS FOR A WOMAN. Not Much Chance for an Automatic | Housecleaner. From the Detroit Free Press. “I have called,” said the agent of the automatic housecleaning apparatus, “to try to Interest you In our method of cleaning house. We have a ma chine here that will do all your work." “Will your machine wash the out side of the upstairs windows?" ex claimed the woman. “No hut—” “Will It wash, stretch and iron the curtains; take them down and put them up again?" “No; but—” “Will it paper the little room In the hall and clean the wallpaper in the bath room?" “No; It. Is not Intended—” “Will It prevent my husband from walking over a clean floor with his dirty feet?" “No, madam; but—” “Will it take down the parlor stove and put up the ice chest?” “No; but we are prepared—” “Will It wash the winter bed clothes, put camphor in my furs; make my daughter help with the dishes; keep my husband from grumbling about the cold meals; persuade him to do the gardening; keep the dog out of the parlor; prevent callers from coming In to tea; paint the kitchen floor; gild the gas fixtures and the picture frames; hang new portieres; carry the ashes out of the cellar and find time to make new dresses for three girls and summer night shirts for my hus band?" “No, madam; of course our machine has limitations.” “Limitations! Of course, It has. Every machine has; but man expects a woman to have none. Limitations, In deed! If I had any limitations It wouldn’t be long before this house would go to ruins: It will be a long time before you men’ll , make a ma chine to take a woman’s place or do half the work.
