SHOT NEAR
PICNICKERS.
Unusual Way of Informing Party That
They Were Trespassing.
The pleasures of a picnic party at
Blue Spring were rudely interrupted
last night by the reports of pistol
i shots and by the whirring of leaden
bullets that clipped off leaves and
small branches from the trees over
the heads of the picnickers.,
,A party of about a dozen young la
dles and gentlemen, went out to that
popular picnic grounds last night to
enjoy an evening in the moonlight.
The party had just arrived at fhe
spring and was making ready for the
enjoyment of the evening, when a pis
tol shot rdng out on the still night air
and a bullet cut its way through the
trees just above their heads. The first
shot was followed by a second, which
caused a panic among the ladies.
Mr. Jack Morgan, one of the mem
bers of the party, went over to the
^iew store that has recently been built
ht the spring, and there found one Will
Geter, who had done the. shooting.
Geter explained that Morgan and his
friends were on private property, and
that he shot to let them know it. He
invited them to take the big road and
make tracks from the spring without
delay. Morgan claims that Geter had
his pistol drawn on him all the time.
The party did not linger longer at
the spring, but returned to the city.
This morning Mr. Morgan declared
that he was going to issue warrants
against Geter and prosecute him. He
and the other members of the party
were very indignant over their treat
ment*.
Parties have been picnicking at Blue
Spring for years, and it is something
new to meet with such interference
as was experienced last night.
