Attendance 210. tURSCHBAUM One of the moBt favored summer furnisbingB Is denim, and, Indeed, It Is useful in many rooms all the year ’round. As everyone knows, It comes In all the effective plain colors, as well as In various patterns, the most at tractive of which are heraldic, as a rule. ItB uses are simply unlimited. It Is strong, and it Is effective, and it may be used for anything from floor coverings to wall coverings, in addi tion to this it makes admirable hang ings for windows or doors. Since the floor of the average sum mer retreat is poor, it should be cov ered. Matting comes first to mind as a rule. But matting Is bulky to trans port, and more expensive. Denim is easily managed, and in cool green, wood brown, or Gobelin blue, or other hue, is very agreeable in every way. It Is handsomest In a plain color, though some way prefer a tiny figure. Denim is often used for a wainscot ing, though this may be too “elabor ate" if the effect is very rough, as it h likely to be in a mountain cabin. For the summer cottage, though, this is not likely. And denim may be used to cover the entire walls, or it may serve for door and window hangings. For doors it Is especially liked by those who have no wooden doors. These extremists admit that, however breezy and charming may be the. door less arrangement, a portiere gives pleasing privaoy at times. Denim, too, t is very useful for up holstering, and for rugs, and serves in town as well as at the seaside or in the mountains.
