COTTON PICKINGS.
Furnished for Dally Herald Readers
by Clark & Co.
Liverpool was hardly up to mark;
futures were 3 better on sales of 8,000
bales at 6.07.
Spot sales In Liverpool are really
not what they should be.
Crop reports continue of the most
mixed character.
Bear fanatics shou^l remember that
a June condition does not mean much
in the Anal out-turn of the crop. July
and August have to be reckoned with,
and August Is probably the most crit
ical period in the life of the plant.
The enormous amount of cotton
which has been sold for fall delivery
may be a strong hull factor later on.
Price may be honestly bullish, hut
just now he Is a stumbling block to
higher prices.
Sunshine is needed in Georgia and
rain in Texas. Ideal conditions can
not prevail over the entire belt.
There is still a strong demand for
high-grade cotton, but the medium and
lower grades are almost neglected.
There is little prospect of an early
decline in the fall and winter months
1 until the trade can "see further."
The Texas weather was clear and
cool!
New York was dull and featureless
with no new price making factors in
evidence.

NEW ORLEANS COTTON LETTER.
By wire to Clark A Co,
New Orleans, June 15,1906.
There was a dearth of news from
Liverpool, from which It Is natural to
assume that no developments have oc
curred to disturb the prosaicness oT
the foreign market. Options closed
from 2 to 3 points higher than the pre
vious day’s levels, while spot sales are
assuming a decidedly better basis.
One thousand bales have been sold’to
day at an advance of 1 point*. Today’s
earlier session was extremely quiet,
but after the noon hour considerable
selling was indulged in with Julys the
center of attack. This new turn of af
fairs was attributed to the liquidation
of th'e long interest.
The weather map, despite the fact
that no rains fell, in Texas, was gen
erally considered favorable. The fore
cast for tomorrow for the western belt,
however, seems ..to indicate that the
weather is unsettled over Texas and
showers are predicted for the north
ern portion of the state where they are
not needed.
The visible statement is again ex
pected to be bullish, and from the com
paratively small amount of cotton into
sight for tho week, namely, ''46,000
bales, and the decrease in receipts and
heavy Increase in shipments of the
The Savannah News of today says:
It id stated that no one connected
with the city has yet been discharged
because of alleged activity against the
Citizens’ Club in the primary election
Tuesday when the candidates of the
administration forces were defeated.
Reports of “party treachery” have
been frequent since the victory of the
People’s League, and members of the
faction that Btlll controls the munici
pal government are known to be clam
oring for the heads of those who failed
to give the Citizens’ Club ticket their
support.
It is rumored that there will be in
the neighborhood of a score of heads
to fall into the basket and that they
will come from a number of depart
ments. A half dozen or more mem
bers of the police force are Bald to be
on the slate, and it is expected that
something will drop within the next
few days. No action, however, has yet
been taken. Mayor Myers has been
attending the sessions of the Georgia
League of Municipalities and is not
expected home until this morning. It
is not expected that all of the head
chopping will be done at one time. .
The followers of both factions are
resting after the long and hard cam
paign and so far as is known nothing
has been done towards going into
training for the municipal light. Those
who were seen yesterday on both sides
stated that nothing has been done to
wards getting In shape for the city
eleotlon and nothing will be done un
til everybody Is thoroughly rested. In
no event will an active campaign be
begun before the fall, it is conceded.
It is generally understood that the
Citizens’ Club will reorganize Its
forces for the city election within the
next week or ten days. Deqd timber
will be discarded, the weak places that
were brought out in Tuesday’s elec
tion will be strengthened and the club
will take on new life for its battle in j
January, which promises to bq a hotly
contested one. It is a part of the re
organization plan, It Is understood, to
muster out of the city’s service all of
those who failed to do what was ex
pected of them.
Bombay movement, seem to give good
grounds that these expectations will
be fulfilled. But the trade pays little
attentloh to any marked Improvement
In the statistical position of the pres
ent crop and when the July position
is finally closed, the last vestige of in
fluence In so far as present supplies
are concerned, will have been re
moved, and the weather solely will
govern the course of prices.
Yours very truly,'
GIBERTCLAY.
A man who Is in perfect health, so
he con do an honest day’s work when
necessary, has much for which he
should he thankful. Mr. L. C. Rod

was not only unable to work, but he
couldn't stoop over to tie his own
shoes. Six bottles of Foley’s Kidney

says. “Success to Foley’s Kidney
