It would be another 13-inning game. In the fifth both Griffin and Flelscb man succeeded In ranking a mark on the acore-bonrd. Neither of them got a hit in the inning. Griffin got to first on a fielder’s choice and Flelschman walked. Well, anyway, the two of them made runs, and we buckled down to work. - |i| mm Weaver certainly put up a good game of ball—pitched well and got a hit, too. He has good control and throws a fast ball. Snodgrass got a pretty double-header, but It was too late in coming. Anyway, it was a nice one. In the eighth inning there was a fine double made by the home team—Siner to Eldrcd, Eldred to Griflin—making the third double in the game—one for Albany, two for Waycross. The visitors played some "sticky ball." Bo. Yep! to shut us out had to be something ext ra for that, vou knnvv That double in the fifth was a coiker F. Bunas., to Oviflln to Bow«u: it did very efficient work. Bowen did great work nil the way through lit the game, He more th?.n cut off a pretty and live hi: of Boyd’s in the eighth and in «v ery instance fielded first in an able manner. Ham, that big pitcher of the Magic City’s—he's big, all right—did some tall work. "Swift Ham"—good brand, AT VALDOSTA. Valdosta, June 28.—In a very unin teresting and featureless game hero yesterday Valdosta took a victory from Americus. There was no good playing on either side and the fans were pleased when the game was fin ished. Clubs— R. H. E. Brunswick 1 5 4 3 'Cordele G10 4 We also have list ed with us for quick sale a house and lot on the corner of Pine and Madison streets. This is an extra good bargain at the price asked. If interested, see us at once. From the Macons News. Oh, yes, we all have heard about The man behind the gun, And of the bleacherite that grins Behind the sausaged bun; And though we’ve heard of him that stands Behind this thing and that, The greatest of the lot today’s The man behind -the hat. He throws the bull to "second," and He lines it down to "third,” And catches quick the player who Skims homeward like a bird; And though the pitcher may outcurve Himself,’we throw our hat Aloft, and split the welkin for The tnnn behind the bat. It was a pretty game, but not as in teresting, possibly, because jye didn't win, as either the other games. The teams are evenly matched, and the ball that they put up was every bit of it first-class. Waycross will play two more games in Albany—August 1 and 2. Albany plays in Wnycross two games—August 3 and 4. And thero will be some great ball when they meet, you may ho suro. The score follows, with summary OFFICIAL SCORE OF THE GAME. He capers round in circles, and He reaches high and stoops And he is everywhere at once, And so the ball he scoops; Oh, nothing ever passes, for As lively as a cat That gayly scrambles up a tree’s The man behind the bat. On Monday, the 2nd of July, thero is no game scheduled for Albany, an off day in the league. Cordele will bo in the city and it has been decided to give an exhibition game, dividing the gate receipts between the players on both teams. This will not be n benefit as both teams are in excellent shape flnan daily, but the management thinks that it will he well for the boys to have a little treat, especially ns there is to be a doublo day’s work on the Fourth. The game will be a good one, the two teams are equally matched, and play the kind of ball that is worth seeing. ; Great LAS Lin June Cle White Goods— India worth regula" the yard. June Clean-Up Sale price’ per yard There is some talk among the pub lic-spirited men In the city over the proposed Fourth of July celebration in Albany. . Thero Is no reason in the world, * 1 said a very prominent and energetic man in tho city this morning, “why Albany should not have attractions on tho Fourth to bring into the city largo crowd. Wo have tho rates, cer tainly, and are in a position to enter tain ns largo or larger a number of visitors than nny town of this size in state. We have enough beats for some good racing, there nro enough automobiles In the city to insure race, and fireworks in the evening on river would bo as picturesque and i appropriate as could be." There has boon a great deal of talk ulong this line, and it certainly* seems there should be something done the city to druw a crowd. With hall games and ail the time be- ween the two for other attractions to have a play, it seems that some thing should materialize along this score. tho i that In two Come 'round this evening and see how the other games in the Goorgln State Lenguo came out.
