tive committee has sent out a
communication to the democrat
ie state executive committee
challenging Governor Ho.vdly
to a discussion with Dr. Leon¬
ard, the prohibition candidate,
of the questiou of prohibition
ve kus «he license of the liquor
traffic. The committee will
not reply until they receive in¬
formation from Governor Hoad
ly, now in the east. It is un¬
derstood that he will accept if
Judge Koraker will consent tc
take part in the discussion.
An act to repeal an act to
provide for the election of a
county board of education for
Haralson county. Approved
August 24, 1872.
Also, an act to incorporate
the Georgia Mutual insurance
company.
Also, an act to provide for
the registration of voteis to
vote at municipal elections in
the city of Savannah and for
other purposes.

charter of the town of East¬
man.
Also an act to incorporate
the Macou fire insurance com¬
pany.
Also an act to amend an act
to provide for the disposition
ot fines and forfeitures in the
county court of Sumter county,
so as to make the provisions of
said act of force in apd applica¬
ble to the couuty of Lee.
Also an act to abolish the
county court of of Crawford
county.
Also an act to change the
time of holding the superior
court of Pauldiug county.
Also an act amending an act
incorporating the village ot
Summerville in the county of
Richmond.
Also au act to provide for
the transfer of misdemeanor
cases from the superior court
of Lee county to the county
court of said county and for
other purposes.
Also a resolution authorizing
the governor to cause to be
furnished Bowden college with
eighty stands of arms.
Some of our exchanges out
of pure goodness of heart, oc¬
casionally make many innocent
people miserable and throw a
cloud of unjust suspicion over
them. It all comes from a
namby-pamby way of fooling
with a big piece of sensational
pews, which they do rot see
their way clear to publishing
Instead of giving the facts or
letting the matter alone, they
give an outline sketch and meu

reader to guess at the parties
involved in the business. It
wiil be seen that this makes it
uncomfortabl for others besides
the central figure of the scan
dal. Guesses chrystalize into
rumors, and very sooq it is
whispered far aud wide that so

connected with it. It is reck¬
less journalism to make vague
allusions to scandals in such a
way as to leave an entire
street, a ward, a class of insti¬
tutions or a class of individuals
under suspicion in quarts,’8
