The Adams school bouse near
town, was burned last Saturday

Commissioner Bledsoe and Dep¬
uty Marshall Milton, of EUijay,
came over last week and made a
bond for Asbury Kell, who was in
our county jail And Kell goes to
Gilmer to terrify the citizens.
The little daughter, about four¬
teen years old, of Mr. W G Harris,
near Sumach, died very suddenly
with neuralgia of the heart last
Tuesday. She w as a bright, beau¬
tiful little girl and her death will
be a scource of great, regret to the
family.

Dr. Quillian, presidiMg elder of
the Dalton district, held the second
quarterly conference, of the Spring
Pmce circuit, at Mt, Zion, last Sat¬
urday. The meeting was well at ¬
tended notwithstanding the fre¬
quent rains, and Dr. Quillian
preached two eloquent interesting
sermons, which were highly appre¬
ciated by ail who heard them.
The committee appointed at the
mass meeting ior Murray county
in the interest of the Augasta and
Chattanooga Railroad met and or¬
ganized by electing W C Tilton
chairman, and D O Kenner and
T Starr secretarys, who will take
take immediate steps toward a
hearty co-operation in relation to
(he early building of the road.
The raiuiall on last Tuesday
night was the hardest and most
destructive of the season, Sever¬
al of the bridges on the sidewalks
and streets about town were wash¬
ed out, and the damage to crops
and lands is inestimable. The vain
lasted about two and a half hours
and the frequent flashes of light
ning kept almost a constant light
during the entire rain
