The Exposition.
The Piedmont
which opens in Atlanta, today
(Wednesday) promises to
the grandest show ever seen in
the South. Their preparations
are more extensive thau ever
before. Additional space has
beeu added to accommodate
those desiring to participate in
the great enterprise. Twenty
five thousand dollars will be
spent in premiums aud the con
testants a.e working for the
victory.
October 17th, will be Edit¬
ors’ day, on wicb day, Col. Hen
ry Waterson, editor of the
Courier-Journal, ot Louisville,
Ky., who was once a Georgia
editor, will address them.
October 18th, will be chil¬
dren’s day.
Oct. 23rd Inis been set aside
hs Veterans’ day, and Senator
Daniel, ot Virginia will address
them,
Ovt 28tb, will be the first of
the three Alliance days. 29th
and 30th, will be wedding days.
Two couples will be married
each day, in front of the Grand
Stand, in cotton bagging.
The great Wild West Show,
composed of 100 Indiana and
Cow boys, will give two exhib
its of life in the far west.
Pyrotechnic displays and
balloon aasensions are on the
list of leading amusements.

Babe Barrows, the great train
robber, has at last met his fate.
He was captured by two negroes
near Linden, Ala., and whs placed
in prison aDd during tli« first night
of imprisonment he played one of
his pranks on the guards and made
them dance to liis music at the
mouth of a pistol which the officers
had failed to get, in making their
search. He went to the room of
Carter, who had his riile and
money and on demauding them,
Carter was too quick lor the Bulley
and shot him down and thus ended
the wild career of the champion
thief and robber.

ton and Spring Place railroad. The
Ool says, that the road will be
built beyond the shadow (fa reas
onable doubt. A number of the
leading citiz ns of Dalton have get
their lieaats in the work and have
sent one of their enterprising citi¬
zens to New York to secure aid
from the Eastern Capitalists who
are always ready to put their mon¬
ey in paying railroads.- Oolondl
further says, that this is no scheme
or railroad swindle, but that io will
be a straiget iorward business mat¬
ter and those paiticipating in this
