—Mr. J. H. McCollough has just
returned from a short run to N. Y.
He was gone ten days, and took on
sixteen pounds of extra flesh. Oar

have been too small to support him in
a week more.
Mr. Jno. R. Cook, we learn, is re
gaining his health and flesh very rap
idly. His trip, too, is proving bene
ficial. Wish we conld get a chance to
fatten, too.
New Firm.
“Rogers & Co.. Cotton Merchants,”
' is the new sign to lie seen at the Cot
ton Press wlmrf. The new firm, as
we urderstand it, is a branch of a
very strong house in England, who
propose to buy all the cotton they
need this winter through this port.
There seems to be no mistake about
this matter, as will be seen elsewhere
in our columns, their first ship left
Liverpool on the 12th inst., for tlii 8
port, with merchandise.
Let there be no croakers in this
matter, but let all parties interested
pull together to the end in view.
FOR SALE.
Will be sold before the Court House
door, t n Tuesday, the 5th of Septem
ber, at public outcry. Old Town Wa
